Resources

Providing promotional materialsCan you supply the words to a traditional song? Have you ever heard of a particular carol? Can you help with music for a Radio 4 Woman's Hour programme on Bal Maidens? Is that tune I heard recently written down anywhere? Can you translate something into Cornish for me? Can you read over this paper I've written? Why can't I hear any Cornish music in the pubs of West Penwith?

These are just some of the sort of enquiries Cumpas receive in connection with Cornish tunes, songs and language. Sometimes we can help straight away and sometimes we point the inquirer in the direction of another resource. It's clear to us that there's a lack of resources out there which means people are more dependent on human resources and that's when they ring or email us. We are constantly unlocking the body of traditional material and in the future aim to house our resources centrally.

"As an incomer it has given me an insight into the history and culture of Cornwall and has allowed me to take part in various festivals and events which I would either have missed or only been an onlooker."

"Their process has opened up a treasure trove of innovation and artistry, drawing together Cornish language, traditions, history and experience."
