WreckersDescribed as "The Finest English Opera" and "The Cornish National Opera", Ethyl Smyth's "The Wreckers" will be produced by Duchy Opera on the centenary of its premiere (11.11.1906).The plot relies upon the collusion of stereotypical Cornish villagers, murderously luring ships onto the rocks. Our parallel youth project will explore primary source material to raise questions about how the Cornish have been portrayed historically and why.
