Horners
It was put to the test at Trevithick Day and Golowan where several dozen musicians, playing by ear took to the streets and had crowds of enthusiastic dancers swirling about them.
The idea behind the Horners is to build up a whole network of brass, reed and percussion players across Cornwall. This means that different combinations of musicians turn up to play at local events - there are already many players on our database, from Pendeen to Calstock! Everyone learns the same tunes from our book and CD - Hooch!: Cornish Music for Brass and Reeds, so building on a common repertoire. Regular top-up sessions for those already involved and newcomers alike are held at Threemilestone Church Hall. |
"I am very proud of the fantastic work you have done and continue to do. One day you will get the riches you deserve as you have enriched so many other peoples' lives with your music and knowledge." "Thanks for organising all this so we can play in ALL THOSE PARADES!" "Cumpas has done many great things in raising awareness for Cornish music and bringing bigger audiences to its cause" |
